Purpose: |
The organized unit of UMW is a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church. Orchard Circle is a group of women of all ages who support missions both locally and nationally. As members we strive to grow spiritually through Mission Studies supported by our District UMW and by offering supportive fellowship for all women. Sponsoring various day trips offers time with other women to build new relationships with focus on Christian principles. The Orchard also hosts various fund raisers each year in order to support other church and local missions. ICE CREAM SOCIAL ON THE PORCH - July 2009
Ice Cream Social 2010 slated for Wednesday, July 7. Y'all Come!!!
Activities: In February, we got together and made baby blankets for those in need. They were later dedicated at the alter before be sent to those precious little ones. A trip to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. While the day did not look too promising, drizzly and at times pouring, we vaned down to the Botanical Gardens anyway. As it turned out, it was the orchid showing that Saturday and we were really in store for a treat. Between showers we were able to get outdoors to visit the annual garden, oriental garden, the local garden plants and a host of others. After our big day, we traveled through mid-town to see some of the items blooming in Emory area and headed for a bite to eat at Panara Bread Company (dessert of course and a little special blend of hot anything!
![]() A mini-retreat for the Explorations in Antiquity Center in LaGrange, Georgia, a living museum of life in ancient times. Through archeological replicas, Biblical meal presentations, lectures, and other personal experiences, ancient Middle Eastern life became real for us. We then dined with the ancients as we shared a Passover Meal much like that which Jesus ate at the Last Supper.
The Orchard sponsored a trip to the United Methodist Children's Home in Decatur. The trip was educational, heart-warming, and very eye-opening as to the indispensable contribution the Home plays in the roles of our children and families in crisis.
